Rules of Thumb
The world is a messy place, and making choices can be difficult. You need rules of thumb.
Here’s one:
Choose simple tools over complex tools.
Why?
Because simple tools are easier to understand, and you will probably be productive faster than if you choose a complex tool.
Also, simple tools tend to hurt you and break in predictable ways. Think of the failure modes of a regular hammer compared to the failure modes of a nail gun. A simple website built with HTML and CSS versus a behemoth using the latest new frameworks tied together with dependency hellscapes.
More rules will be added later.
